Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 4870, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, providing funding for national security and military operations through FY2015. In total, this bill will provide $491 billion in discretionary funding for the Department of Defense, an increase of $4.1 billion over FY2014.

Boustany said: "We live in an increasingly unstable world. More than ever, we need a strong national defense able to protect American interests abroad while keeping our citizens safe at home. Our enemies have demonstrated they will not rest, and neither should we. This bill reflects the reality of the world we live in by prioritizing American security and providing the capability to project American power to every corner of the globe."
