U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) released the following statement after winning the Republican Primary Election for Illinois' 13th Congressional District:

"I'm honored and humbled to receive the Republican nomination, thank you to the voters for your support and for putting your trust in me to win the November election," said Davis. "Thank you to my supporters and volunteers for their hard work throughout this primary, and to my opponents for a hard fought race.

"Finally, I'd like to thank my family, my wife Shannon and our kids, Toryn, Clark and Griffin. I couldn't have done this without each of you.

"I first ran for Congress because of my family, because I want to leave a better America for my kids and my grandkids. I want to ensure that our next generation does not have to pay for the bad decisions being made in Washington today, and in my first 15 months in Congress, we've made progress, but we have so much more to do. We need to make Washington work for the families of central and southwest Illinois and that means cutting spending, creating jobs, and repealing and replacing Obamacare.

"Now that this election is behind us, it is my hope that Republicans across the 13th District can come together for the common goal of winning in November to keep our majority in the House and maintain the fight to ensure that America is strong for generations to come."
