Location: Washington, DC

Senator John Walsh today met with Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for Veterans' Employment and Training Service Keith Kelly -- a Butte native -- to discuss ways to help ensure veterans find good-paying, quality jobs.

"We do a great job of turning our citizens into soldiers, but we need to do a better job of helping our veterans market their skills in the civilian workforce," said Walsh, the only Iraq War combat veteran serving in the U.S. Senate. "I will always fight to ensure our veterans receive the services and assistance they have earned, including finding good-paying jobs. It is welcome to have another Montanan working on behalf of the veterans in Montana and across the country."

Kelly, a Vietnam combat veteran and native Montanan, oversees the Veterans' Employment and Training Service in the Department of Labor, which prepares service members to transition from active duty to civilian employment.

Since coming to the Senate, Walsh has worked on behalf of Montana's veterans, voting to reverse the military cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) cuts put into place by the latest budget agreement and sponsoring Comprehensive Veterans Health and Benefits and Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act of 2014 in his first days in office.
