My number one priority in the legislature is not only the funding of public and higher education, but ensuring that we have rigor and accountability in the classroom, both from teachers and students. As a member of the Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee, I have fought to ensure that we have funded for growth the past two years and in 2012, added additional funding to the Weighted Pupil Unit. I support, too, Utah's public Charter Schools and parents' right to choose the best education options for their children.
