Congressman John F. Tierney today hailed the passage of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (H.R. 3080), which passed the House by a vote of 412 to 4. This bill included an important provision Tierney authored that will help Gloucester.

"I commend my colleagues for working together and producing this bipartisan legislation that invests in our nation's water infrastructure, improves public safety and creates jobs. This bill contains a provision for Gloucester that I included after working closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, Tony Gross, who chairs the Gloucester Waterways Board, and others. This provision will eliminate restrictions along Lobster Cove which should benefit local homeowners and small businesses," said Congressman Tierney.

The House version of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act that passed in October 2013 included this important provision for Gloucester, as well a similar critical priority that would benefit the Town of Ipswich and area boaters and fishermen. Earlier this year, Congressman Tierney successfully included the provision that will help Ipswich in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014 (Public Law 113-76).

The Senate is expected to soon consider and pass the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, which would clear it to be signed into law by the President in the near future.
