Hall Fights Administration's "Cap and Trade" Proposal on Power Plants

The President's new EPA rule is a backdoor attempt to impose his "cap and trade' law that failed to pass Congress four years ago -- through a Democrat-controlled Senate, no less. The decision to circumvent Congress and the will of the American people continues a pattern with this President, and it could not come at a worse time. Just last week, the Bureau of Economic Analysis found America's economy shrunk by 1%. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy, the EPA's new rule will:

Weaken America's economy by an average of $51 billion every year through 2030;
Kill an average of 224,000 U.S. jobs every year through 2030;
Raise energy prices on American families and businesses by $289 billion through 2030; and
Lower total disposable income for families by $586 billion through 2030.

"I will do everything I can to fight President Obama's attempt to "cap and trade' clean, reliable coal. That is why I am an original co-sponsor of H.R. 3826, the Electricity Security and Affordability Act that passed the House in March, as well as a cosponsor of H.R. 621, the Ensuring Affordable Energy Act. I also look forward to providing oversight in June 16th's Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing addressing this issue.
