Hall Votes to Fund Troops, Provide Accountability for VA Health Care

As Americans across the country prepare to celebrate Memorial Day this weekend to honor all the men and women who have served in our Nation's military, I am pleased to have the opportunity to honor our troops and veterans on the House Floor," said Hall. "Our brave servicemen and women make sacrifices to protect the security of all America's citizens, and it is right that we do all we can to show them our gratitude. The bills this week work to address the needs of our troops, past and present, on the battlefield and when they return home.

Hall continued, "To provide for our troops who are currently serving, The National Defense Authorization Act ensures our troops have the necessary equipment, training, and resources to perform their duties with as much protection as possible when they are placed in harm's way. This bill balances the need to reduce federal spending while providing for a strong Defense at a time when America faces many challenges overseas.

"To provide for the health needs of our veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act addresses the serious ongoing issue of waitlisted veteran patients. Currently, no one has been held accountable for This week, Congressman Ralph Hall (TX-04) voted in favor of two bills to address the needs of our Nation's troops and veterans. On Wednesday, the House passed H.R. 4031, the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act of 2014, 390-33. Today, the House passed H.R. 4435, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal year 2015, 325-98.the gross neglect of veteran care. This bill allows the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs greater freedom to remove senior executives due to negligent management. This vote is a continuation of my efforts to see that hospitals providing poor health care to our veterans are investigated and those in charge provide the American people answers about why this was allowed to happen in the first place. Our veterans and their families deserve the best quality health care in response to their sacrifices.
