Blumenthal, Murphy Issue Statement Praising Senate Judiciary Committee For Approval Of Deirdre Daly Nomination For United States Attorney

U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) issued a joint statement today applauding the Senate Judiciary Committee for their vote to approve the nomination of Deirdre M. Daly to the position of United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut:

"Deirdre Daly has earned tremendous respect as a tough and fair prosecutor and attorney with a strong sense of justice for victims of crime. She has proven herself as a capable manager and strong leader during the past year while serving in an acting capacity, and we are confident she will continue to excel in her tenure as United States Attorney," Blumenthal and Murphy said.

If confirmed, Daly would be the 51st United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. She would serve a four year term. Deirdre M. Daly has served as the First Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Connecticut since 2010 and as the Acting United States Attorney since May 2013. Previously, Daly was a partner with the Connecticut law firm Daly & Pavlis LLC from 2001 to 2010 and with the New York law firm Gage & Pavlis from 1997 to 2001. She served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York from 1985 to 1997 and began her law career as a law clerk for Judge Lloyd F. MacMahon of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from 1984 to 1985. Daly received her J.D. in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. in 1981 from Dartmouth College.
