Boustany Promotes World Trade Week

Statement

Date: May 20, 2014
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana), issued the following statement to promote World Trade Week:

"Serving as a vehicle to promote one of my favorite topics, World Trade Week highlights the importance trade plays every day in lives across the globe. Last year, the United States set a record for exports for the fourth straight year with $2.3 trillion in goods shipped from its border. More than one in five jobs in the United States is supported by trade. In Louisiana alone, over 400,000 jobs are supported by trade. As a founding Chairman of the TPP Caucus, I've been engaged on the topic of trade from my first days on Capitol Hill. I will continue to seek a more active and prominent role in promoting the good it does and the jobs it creates throughout our country and the rest of the world."
