Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement on House Speaker John Boehner's announcement today that the House will vote on the creation of a select committee to investigate the Benghazi terrorist attack.
"In the nearly two years since the Benghazi terrorist attack that took the lives of four Americans, House Republicans have worked tirelessly to obtain answers from this administration about what really happened. Yet, President Obama and officials in his administration have repeatedly twisted the truth, withheld information, and obstructed our investigative efforts. This select committee is a necessary step to ensure the American people get the answers they deserve. The American people deserve to know the truth. And If anyone in the Obama Administration intentionally misled the American people for political reasons, they should immediately be removed from their position and brought to justice."
Congressman Blackburn is a co-sponsor of H. Res. 36, to establish a select committee to investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
