Kirkpatrick Statement on Medicare Advantage Announcement

Statement

Date: April 8, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., released the following statement in response to the announcement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) of their 2014-15 plan to increase Medicare Advantage payment rates by 0.4 percent rather than to cut them as initially proposed:

"This is important news for seniors across Arizona and everywhere. I've been fighting these cuts to Medicare Advantage, along with colleagues from both sides of the aisle, so I'm thrilled that our voices have been heard. Medicare Advantage helps seniors in my district access high-quality healthcare -- especially seniors who suffer from chronic disease. These folks need stability in their benefits, access and options within this important program. Seniors shouldn't have to bear the burden of any further cuts to Medicare or Medicare Advantage."
