Brown Urges Peaceful Resolution to Escalating Situation in Taiwan

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement in response to the escalating situation in Taiwan. Student-led protesters have expressed opposition to a proposed economic pact between Taiwan and the People's Republic of China:

"My thoughts are with Taiwanese students and other protesters expressing opposition to a proposed economic pact with China," Brown said. "I urge the Taiwanese government to ensure a non-violent, peaceful resolution."

Brown is a founding member of the House Taiwan Caucus and a member of the Senate Taiwan Caucus.
