Johanns Statement on the Fourth Anniversary of Health Care Law

Press Release

Date: March 21, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) made the following statement ahead of the fourth anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, on March 23rd:

"The warning bells we rang about Obamacare four years ago are now blaring sirens as Americans see broken promise after broken promise," Johanns said. "With each day of implementation, the situation becomes worse for American families and job creators. The Administration has admitted as much by delaying signature provisions. It's time to work together to repeal the law and replace it with a workable solution that actually lowers costs and keeps important health care decisions in the hands of Americans."

Last fall, Johanns invited Nebraskans to share their health care stories - good and bad - through his website. He's highlighted these stories through numerous speeches and columns.

Johanns has cosponsored or voted for more than 30 efforts to delay or repeal Obamacare, including legislation to repeal both the employer and individual mandates. He also led the first successful effort to repeal a provision of the law by removing a burdensome 1099 tax paperwork requirement for businesses and other organizations.
