Marchant Statement on Tax Reform Discussion Draft

Location: Washington, DC

As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) released the following statement in response to the tax reform discussion draft by Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp.

"The Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp made a significant step forward to providing a simpler, flatter, and fairer tax code for all Americans. Chairman Camp's tax reform plan lowers taxes, closes loopholes, and leads us into a future of greater fairness, economic growth, and opportunity.

"My constituents know the tax code is broken and they, as all Americans, deserve a plan of action to simplify the code. The discussion draft released today brings us closer to making the tax system fairer and easier to understand. Chairman Camp's plan is a common sense attempt to provide tax relief for hardworking taxpayers, create more jobs, and jumpstart the economy.

"As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I applaud Chairman Camp for his leadership on reforming the broken tax code. I look forward to hearing feedback from my constituents in Texas as we continue working to fix the tax code for our country."
