Congresswoman Pelosi takes part in the construction kickoff for the second phase of the Presidio Parkway, an innovative public-private partnership that will finish replacing the aging Doyle Drive with a safer roadway for the 120,000 daily trips over the bridge.
When crafting our transportation options, we must work to reduce the focus on driving and increase our options for bus and rail transit, walking, biking, and transit-oriented development while creating vibrant livable communities.

Recognizing these needs, Congress included $17.7 billion for transit and rail in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which President Obama signed into law on February 17, 2009. These Recovery Act funds have provided significant local investments in the Bay Area, including almost $100 million each for Muni and BART, along with $400 million for the Transbay Transit Center.

I have long worked to obtain federal assistance for transportation needs in San Francisco, including for the Third Street Light Rail -- Central Subway, Transbay Transit Center, Doyle Drive renovation / Presidio Parkway, seismic retrofit of the Golden Gate Bridge and SFO.
