DeLauro Statement On Malloy/UTC Announcement

Press Release

Date: Feb. 26, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today on Governor Dannel Malloy's announcement that United Technologies Corporation (UTC) has committed to investing $500 million over five years in Connecticut. UTC also committed to keeping its Pratt & Whitney division headquarters in the state for 15 years, though it only made the same commitment to keeping its Sikorsky headquarters in Stratford for five years.

"Today's announcement is an important one in ensuring that many of the good paying, high-skilled manufacturing jobs that make up the backbone of Connecticut's economy remain in our state. Connecticut has always played a critical role in developing cutting-edge aerospace and defense products, and this commitment from Governor Malloy and UTC to invest in further research and development, as well as modern manufacturing facilities, will help keep our state at the forefront in this critical sector. While I am pleased to see a 15 year commitment to keep Pratt & Whitney headquarters in Connecticut, I will work to see a similar level of commitment to Sikorsky and its workforce."
