There is no question in that we need more affordable and accessible healthcare options for us and our families. But the single payer system, that Obamacare is designed to send us into, is not the answer. We need something simple, understood by all and not packed with tax increases and mandates.
My view on repairing healthcare is to encourage competition among private carriers, that will force them to write more and offer better plans to compete, and to offer a stronger state run plan compared to what we have today.
Look at it this way. Someone in that gray area with pre-existing conditions but with an income that can afford insurance is often not accepted by a private insurer. So why do we not allow the states to write them on their plans who can charge them a normal rate for that plan? And combined with an increase of competition among private carriers, we will see more covered and at lower rates. Isn't that what this was all about anyways? Affordable and accessible?
