Education

The education of our youth is not a one-size-fits-all problem and this approach to the issue has led to bad legislation such as Common Core. Currently our country spends $71 billion on education -- more than any other country - and receives poor results. We can no longer afford to gamble the future of our country's youth on the failed policies of big government bureaucrats. We must act!

We can begin to effectively educate our youth by allowing parents and their communities to decide what & how to teach their children. I'm firmly opposed to Common Core and the use of our tax dollars to entice states into its adoption. Bureaucracy has no place in education.

War on Drugs

The war on drugs is a multi-billion dollar yearly waste of tax payer money and a detriment to personal liberty. Like prohibition, the war on drugs has led to an excessively lucrative and violent black market, as well as frightening abuses of the Bill of Rights. This affects the personal liberty of every American.

Our prisons are overflowing with non-violent offenders being treated as criminals instead of as patients. It's time we put an end to ineffective government policy. I firmly oppose the federal war on drugs.

Medical Marijuana

I support the decriminalization of marijuana at the federal level so that States can make the decision for themselves. I will support decriminalization of marijuana and give states the right to allow doctors to administer the medications they believe will best help their patients.

Immigration

I believe the first step is securing our borders. Illegal immigration shouldn't even be an issue. We should have a secure border so that people can't come here easily without going through the proper channels. Immigrants should be able to come here and look for work if they want. To deny people the American dream seems immoral. They should be able to apply for citizenship if they have been here for a good deal of time. It's time we stop spending billions to protect foreign borders and time we start protect our own.

Abortion

I believe every life is precious and should be protected, especially those not able to defend themselves. My personal belief is that life begins at conception. When 46 chromosomes come together we have the beginning of a human being. We should work toward a solution that gives potential parents an alternative that does not require destruction of the baby. I am firmly pro-life.
