Today, U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) applauded the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's announcement that it will award the Dryden Township Fire Department, led by Captain Keith Klobucar, a $43,562 grant to help with the volunteer department's recruitment and retention practices:

"The volunteer firefighters in Dryden provide a critical and life saving service to the community," Miller stated. "However, it has been years since the department has had a new recruit, increasing the pressure and workload of its current volunteers. I am hopeful that this grant will help the department get more recruits onboard and ease the burden of its current force. These brave firefighters put their lives on the line to save ours. We owe it to them to ensure they have the resources they need to do their jobs safely."

"Having additional and adequate firefighters on call reduces the overall work load for each firefighter allowing the firefighters to be more efficient and under less stress," noted Captain Keith Klobucar. "This grant will allow us to create a comprehensive recruitment and retention program."
