Cassidy Comments on Medicare Advantage Cuts

Press Release

Date: Feb. 26, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy delivered opening remarks at the Energy and Commerce health subcommittee hearing to denounce Obamacare and the administration's cuts to Medicare Advantage.

Dr. Cassidy has been a leader in the fight to protect Medicare Advantage for Seniors since it was slashed by Obamacare. He led a letter last March that was signed by 97 Members of Congress asking CMS to mitigate the impact of those Obamacare cuts. In December, he co-authored another letter signed by 84 Members of Congress asking House leadership to oppose Medicare Advantage cuts in budget negotiations. He released the following statement:

"The President's Administration cut $716 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare, including $300 billion from the popular Medicare Advantage program. These cuts will force thousands of beneficiaries to find new health care plans, despite the President's promise of keeping their coverage. Louisiana seniors will suffer because of these cuts by the Obama administration. They didn't expect to receive cancellation letters. We must preserve patient choice and access to care where it is working well, including Medicare Part D."
