Congressman Tim Ryan Votes to Fully Restore Military Retiree COLAs

Statement

Washington, DC -- Congressman Tim Ryan voted today to fully restore the Military Retiree Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA), which was previously reduced by 1% in the Ryan-Murray Budget Agreement for working-age military retirees under the age of 62.

"I am proud to lend my support to our veteran community and pass legislation to ensure our military will receive the retirement they were promised when they enlisted," said Congressman Ryan. "One of my greatest responsibilities as a Member of Congress is to ensure our veterans and active duty armed forces are getting the benefits and care they deserve. These men and women put their lives on the line day in and day out and it is our duty to ensure that we fulfill the commitments we have made to them."

Congressman Ryan was also an original cosponsor of the Military Retirement Restoration Act, which would have repealed the Military Retirement COLA reductions in the Ryan-Murray Budget Agreement.
