Location: Washington, DC

H.R. 3590, the "Sportsmen's Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act of 2013" passed the House today by a vote of 268 yeas to 154 nays. Congressman George Holding (NC-13), a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, released the following statement in support of the legislation:

"The SHARE Act will help to promote hunting and fishing on public lands and make sure our sportsmen can continue to enjoy the outdoor activities we love.

In North Carolina, hunters and anglers produced over 35,000 jobs in 2011 -- more than the combined employment of the two largest private employers in the state. They also contributed over $249 million in state and local taxes that year, greatly adding to our state revenue.

I'm proud to support this important legislation - we should be doing everything we can in Congress to encourage and promote hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports."
