Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement on his opposition to the Temporary Debt Limit Extension Act (S. 540), which today passed the House:

"Failing to raise the debt ceiling has extremely serious consequences, but raising it without making a single spending reform is equally as irresponsible, and that's what this vote was. I simply could not support a clean debt ceiling increase."
