Today Redstone Arsenal announced the Commanding General of the US Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) has authorized Redstone to hire additional personnel, which will allow Gate 8 to reopen. This gate was previously closed due to budgetary decisions made by IMCOM late last month and caused many traffic and safety issues for North Alabama commuters as a result.

Brooks said, "On January 29th, immediately after these policies went into effect, I reached out to Army Installation and Management Command in Texas to ensure they understood the ramifications of their budgetary decisions, and the lack of efficiency and safety hazard that ensued for the professionals who work on Redstone and others."

Brooks continued, "I'm pleased the Army has responded to Congressional requests for action, and in turn chosen to hire 20 additional guards and reopen Gate 8 at Redstone Arsenal to provide much needed relief from the traffic and safety issues that have plagued commuters during the past couple of weeks."

Brooks concluded, "I will continue to work with Senator Sessions, Senator Shelby, Mayor Battle, and the Garrison Command to ensure Redstone personnel and others impacted by arsenal traffic enjoy a safe and timely commute moving forward."
