This morning, drugstore chain CVS announced that they will no longer carry tobacco products later this year. Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) chairs the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, which oversees the Food and Drug Administration regulation of tobacco products.
Rep. Pitts' full statement follows:
"CVS has made a bold decision to put Americans' health ahead of their own profit. I applaud them on coming to this conclusion without government prompting. It is proof that companies can behave responsibly without the heavy hand of government regulation."
