Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen voted for The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. The bill, to which Ros-Lehtinen is a co-sponsor, would prohibit any taxpayer funding for abortions. This bill would also establish a permanent prohibition on taxpayer subsidies for abortion and abortion coverage. Previous legislation prohibiting public funding for abortion has only been attached to appropriations bills and were a patchwork approach toward accomplishing the goal of this bill. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

"Taxpayers should not subsidize abortions and it is imperative that we continue the fight for ensure innocent life is not taken. Protecting the unborn should be one of our highest priorities. We must continue to work to give voice to those who cannot speak for themselves."
