Pete Sessions: House Bills Increase Domestic Energy Production to Spur Job Growth & Lower Costs

Statement

Date: Nov. 21, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

U.S.Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2728, H.R. 1900, and H.R. 1965:

"I'm committed to advancing an all-of-the-above energy strategy to spur job growth, lower energy costs for American families, and to move our nation closer to energy independence. This week the House approved three energy bills that help get Washington out of the way in order to expand much needed domestic energy production and boost our nation's energy security.

"While natural gas and oil production has increased recently on state and private lands, production on federal lands has decreased by 14 percent since President Obama took office. That is why I supported legislation this week to streamline our nation's pipeline permitting process, expand onshore oil and natural gas production by removing inefficient government roadblocks, and prohibit duplicative hydraulic fracturing regulations. It is time for the Senate to join us in reversing the course of this Administration's energy policies and approve our common-sense proposals."
