Sabo Questions TSA on Terrorist Watch List Screening
March 3, 2005

Washington, D.C. - In a Transportation Security Administration budget hearing today, Congressman Martin Olav Sabo (D-MN) pressed Admiral David Stone on the TSA "Secure Flight" program, particularly on the status of checking airline passengers against the government's Terrorist Watch Lists.

"More than three years after 9/11, I don't understand why this most basic security measure hasn't been fully implemented with the airlines," Sabo said. "The Bush Administration says that checking air passengers against these terrorist watch lists is a top priority, yet I don't see actions to back up their words. It appears that the Administration is far more interested in experimenting with commercial data testing, than in terrorist watch list checks."
