Fattah Statement on Striking Down of Pennsylvania Voter ID Law

Statement

Date: Jan. 17, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) released the following statement on today's Commonwealth Court decision that Pennsylvania's Voter ID law, signed in 2012, is unconstitutional:

"In today's ruling, Judge Bernard L. McGinley wrote that "Voting laws are designed to assure a free and fair election." This law went against these freedoms, creating unnecessary barriers for Pennsylvanians exercising their right to vote. I believe this was the correct ruling and I am hopeful we can close the chapter on this issue."
