Fortenberry Delivers Keynote Address on Nuclear Nonproliferation

Press Release

Date: Nov. 21, 2013

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today delivered the keynote address at "Nuclear Weapons in the 21st Century," a nuclear nonproliferation forum hosted by the Heritage Foundation. As co-founder of the Congressional Nuclear Security Working Group, Fortenberry provided keen insight into the challenges facing the United States and our strategic posture.

"Today's challenge involves more than a determination about the level of weapons necessary for deterrence, as conceived against the Soviet Union," Fortenberry said. "It involves an examination of the essence of deterrence within the framework of a holistic national security construct that encompasses international development, diplomacy, and a robust conventional and nuclear defense posture built in tandem with these elements."
