Rothfus Votes for Energy Jobs and Energy Independence

Press Release

Date: Nov. 21, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement after voting for H.R. 1900, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act:

"Western Pennsylvania is benefitting economically thanks to the development of natural gas," said Rothfus. "The Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act is good-government legislation that will expedite the federal review process so that construction of essential energy infrastructure like pipelines can keep up with increasing production of natural gas."

This week the House also passed H.R. 2728, the Protecting States' Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act, and H.R. 1965, the Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act.

"The safe and responsible development of our nation's energy resources should be at the heart of our efforts to grow our economy and add jobs. The Protecting States' Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act will rein in the overreach of unelected federal elites in Washington, D.C. The Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act will make it easier to produce both renewable and conventional energy on federal lands by reforming and streamlining burdensome red-tape and regulations.

"These three bills are critical for adding jobs and securing our energy future. I urge the Senate and President Obama to approve them so that we can begin to get our economy booming again."

H.R. 1900, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, passed in the House by a bipartisan 252-165 vote.

H.R. 1965, the Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act, passed in the House by a 228-192 vote.

H.R. 2728, the Protecting States' Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act, passed in the House by a bipartisan 235-187 vote.
