Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Glenn "GT' Thompson (R-PA) today released the following statement after former President Bill Clinton urged President Obama to uphold his promise and allow Americans to keep their preferred health insurance plans.

"Over the past several years, President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that "if you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan.' With millions of individuals losing their insurance coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act, it is becoming very clear that Americans were misled by the President and his administration. Today former President Bill Clinton joined the growing number of elected officials in both parties who have called on President Obama to keep his promise to the American people. If the President is sincere about keeping his promise, he would embrace proposals that could prevent millions of Americans from losing their current health care coverage."

NOTE: On Friday, the House will consider H.R. 3350, the Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013. The bill would afford millions of individuals who currently have health insurance through the individual market and are having their policies cancelled as a result of the Affordable Care Act the option to keep their policies in 2014.
