Cummings Issues Statement on Benefits Gained by Marylanders Under Affordable Care Act

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2013
Location: Baltimore, MD

Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (MD-07) issued the following statement on the release of a White House report detailing the benefits of the Affordable Care Act in Maryland:

"Republicans continue to advocate for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, despite the many benefits it offers to people in my district, and across the country," said Cummings. "Repealing the law would raise premiums, allow discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, force women to pay for preventive services, and give the keys back to insurance companies. Republicans need to work with us to improve this law -- not prevent my constituents and millions of Americans from accessing quality, affordable health insurance, some for the first time."
