Farr Statement On The State Of The Union

Rep. Sam Farr, D- Carmel, released the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union address:

"President Obama made it clear that inaction is no longer an option. Leadership is about getting results and the American people demand leadership from Washington. Tonight, the President showed that he wants to lead and is unwilling to let partisan gridlock further delay us from achieving real results for our country.

"Few issues are more important to the American public than our economy. I was pleased to hear the President lay out a clear plan to grow the economy from the middle out. It rejects the failed policies of the past that have only benefited a select few. Instead, it focuses on building an economy that creates opportunity for all by investing in the middle class and empowering those wishing to join it.

"Now is the time for action on all of the issues facing our country. It is time to fix our broken immigration system, pass a new Voting Rights Act, restore the promises made to our nation's veterans and address the growing problem of climate change. Like the President, I too am ready to lead. Like the American people, I too want to see results."
