Congresswoman Jackie Walorski released the following statement after passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act:
"Today the House passed bipartisan legislation to responsibly fund the federal government at reduced spending levels and provide much-needed certainty for Hoosier families and businesses. Like most legislation in Washington, this bill is not perfect and there is still much work to be done.
"However, I am pleased that provisions were included to fix cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) reductions for medically retired armed forces personnel and survivor benefit plan recipients to ensure our nation's military retirees and families receive the support they deserve.
"This bill also cuts spending for bloated government agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, in an effort to shrink the size of government, reduce onerous regulations, and help Hoosier businesses create more jobs. I am hopeful the Senate will pass this legislation to help cut wasteful federal spending and work toward creating a healthier economic environment for Hoosiers and Americans across the country."
