Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement after the Senate unanimously approved the Community Fire Safety Act:

"I am relieved that the Senate has followed the House's lead and unanimously passed the Community Fire Safety Act of 2013. The President should sign this legislation immediately so that there's no delay in fire hydrant service for communities across America in 2014. I'd like to thank Rep. Tonko (D-NY) for working with me to quickly address this public safety concern before it became too late," Bill Johnson said.

The bipartisan bill, sponsored by Rep. Bill Johnson and Rep. Paul Tonko recognizes that fire hydrants are not a major source of drinking water and exempts them from the Safe Water Drinking Act.
