U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, made the following statement on the fourth anniversary of the unjust imprisonment of U.S. citizen Alan Gross in Cuba. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

"After four years, it's disappointing and unacceptable that Alan Gross continues to sit in one of Castro's gulags. While unjustly held in Cuba, Alan has lost nearly 100 pounds and could only watch from afar as his family struggles to hang onto the hope that this nightmare will be resolved and they'll be able to see him soon. Unfortunately, Alan and his family are up against a heartless regime that continues to brutalize 11 million of its own people in violation of international human rights standards and all expectations of basic freedoms and dignity.

"The Castro regime must release Alan unconditionally. I urge the Obama Administration and all responsible nations to stop bolstering this regime through concession after concession and work speedily for the immediate release of not only Alan Gross, but also for all Cubans suffering under this tyrannical regime."
