Document outlines legislative efforts, work for constituents, and travel snapshot in first year as U.S. Senator

Today, U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly released his annual report for 2013. The report includes an outline of Donnelly's legislative work, his efforts on behalf of constituents, a snapshot of his travel around Indiana, a rundown of his bipartisan efforts, and other highlights from his first year as the newest U.S. Senator for Indiana.

"There is a lot more wisdom in Indiana than Washington, which is why I put such a priority on being at home and listening to the people of our home state," said Donnelly. "Hoosiers elected me to the U.S. Senate to be a common sense voice and to work with both sides to get things done. I put together this report to make clear my efforts to serve our state in my first year as Indiana's newest U.S. Senator, and I look forward to continuing to work hard in year two."

Highlights include:

Hosting or participating in 359 events in 49 counties over 162 days in Indiana.
Progress made on preventing military suicides, promoting hiring of Reserve and Guard Members, addressing National Guard canceled deployments, and better serving our nation's veterans.
Receiving and responding to 333,744 emails, calls, pieces of mail, or faxes from Hoosiers within an average of 11 days.
Progress made on Joe's "Opportunity Agenda" and to pass a five-year farm bill into law--all focused on creating more jobs and improving Indiana's economy.
Work on 1,563 cases for Hoosiers seeking assistance with a federal agency, with more than $660,000 in benefits returned to Hoosier veterans and servicemembers.
Legislative efforts (bills, amendments, letters) with 17 Republican Senators.
260 U.S. Capitol tours for 1,674 Hoosiers from 51 different counties.
