Issue Position

Texas has a vast and complex transportation network, and Senator Cornyn has worked closely with local officials and agencies to ensure Texas roads, railways, and waterways are safe, efficient, and modern. Senator Cornyn has fought to increase staffing and make infrastructure updates at Texas's many Ports of Entry, introducing the Cross Border Trade Enhancement Act. The bill would foster local public-private partnerships between government and job creators, allowing bridges, ports, and checkpoints across Texas to have the resources they need without relying on Washington and adding to the deficit. Our trading partnership with Mexico has grown tremendously, and Senator Cornyn believes that streamlining legitimate trade and travel through our ports while increasing staffing and resources through these unique partnerships will allow Texas to continue to lead the nation in job creation.
