Most folks understand that you can't tax and spend your way out of a recession, and Senator Cornyn continues to fight the Obama Administration's permanent campaign to raise taxes on Texas families and small businesses. Senator Cornyn has consistently voted to protect taxpayers, allowing Texans to keep more hard-earned money in their wallets instead of sending it to Washington. Senator Cornyn has introduced legislation to make the state and local sales tax deduction permanent, end the tax penalty on marriage, and permanently repeal the death tax on Texas families and farms. He has also been named a "Hero of the Taxpayer" by Americans for Tax Reform, "Taxpayer's Friend" by the National Taxpayer's Union, and a "Guardian of Small Business" by the National Federation of Independent Business.

Senator Cornyn believes that our convoluted tax code is one of the biggest barriers to economic growth, and we need tax reform. Streamlining and reducing rates for individuals and businesses, making certain research and development incentives permanent, and lowering rates on investment income are essential to achieving pro-growth tax reform. Allowing Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money will spur economic growth and create jobs. This has been a key component of the successful economic agenda that has made Texas one of the most prolific job-creating states in the nation, and Senator Cornyn continues to push this Texas solution in Washington.
