As a devoted father with a daughter in public school, Congressman Garcia knows first-hand how critical it is to empower our students and teachers with the resources they need. At a time of tremendous technological change and increasing global economic competition, this is no time to shortchange our nation's kids. We must invest in a 21st century education system that recognizes that strong education policies are the foundation for future economic strength and provide the necessary funding to ensure that our schools provide the best education possible.

Congressman Garcia believes that every child in Florida and across the country should have the chance to reach their full potential. What has always made America great is that, no matter what your background, you could always strive to live the American Dream. As someone whose life was transformed by education, Congressman Garcia believes that no child should be denied that opportunity and is committed to making the needed investments and reforms so that dream can become a reality.

Congressman Garcia is also committed to working on a bipartisan basis to ensure that a college education is in reach of all Americans who dream about earning a degree, starting a business and shaping the future. That is why Congressman Garcia has cosponsored legislation to extend the student loan interest rate to 3.4% and voted in support of legislation that prevented the doubling of student loan interest rates.
