Issue Position

We need to get our debt and deficits under control, but not on the backs of seniors, veterans and working families. During my previous term, I sponsored legislation that created jobs through federal action rather than federal spending, and that's an approach I support during this term as well. We must support a balanced approach that does not put the burden on the middle class. That's why we've got to focus on creating jobs. When we create jobs, we add revenue and cut the deficit. I am ready to work across the aisle to ensure that we take long-term steps toward fixing these important issues. Bipartisanship is the key to getting things done in Congress.
