Congressman Pittenger to Attend Important National Security Meetings in London

Press Release

Date: Oct. 30, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

As Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) will travel to London this week for important meetings on cyber security, transatlantic security, and counter-terrorism.

Congressman Pittenger will hold meetings with:

* Sir Malcolm Rifkind, Chairman of the British Intelligence and Security Committee
* The Right Honorable Mr. James Arbuthnot, Chairman of the Defense Committee
* Leadership of two Parliamentary groups focused on Transatlantic and International Security, as well as Homeland Security
* A roundtable discussion with Members of Parliament on cyber security and counterterrorism
* Officials from British security, intelligence, and counterterrorism agencies

"America's greatest threat is no longer the conventional armies of nation-states, but unconventional warfare deployed by rogue governments and loosely connected terrorist factions," said Congressman Pittenger. "Because of these constantly evolving threats, close cooperation and information sharing with our Allies is critical. Following this trip, I'll share my findings with leadership and other Members of Congress, helping us better monitor new threats and be engaged in legislation to guard against those threats."
