Statement

Date: Oct. 31, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today issued the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it will work with airlines and other stakeholders to allow the use of electronic devices before and after takeoff:

"Frequent flyers everywhere appreciate the FAA's decision to remove outdated regulations that restricted the use of portable electronic devices on airplanes. This is the sort of common sense policymaking that is too often lacking in Washington. My hope is that airlines and the FAA will be able to lift these restrictions ahead of the busy holiday season, while ensuring that safety is protected."
