As the United States Supreme Court began its new term this week, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced a resolution calling on Supreme Court Justices to make themselves subject to the same ethics guidelines as other federal judges.

"I'm concerned whenever, on occasion, there is criticism of the Supreme Court on ethical issues because of trips made, positions taken, or the like," said Norton. "There is no appeal beyond the Supreme Court, even on its own ethical matters. However, simply acknowledging the guidance provided by the Code of Conduct for United States Judges would help put such matters to rest and ensure that the Court holds itself to the same ethics standards as other federal judges."
