House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement on the latest unemployment report:
"President Obama's inability to work with Congress to enact meaningful jobs legislation remains an impediment to a strong recovery and working middle class families finding job opportunities.
"House Republicans have worked hard this year to pass legislation that would empower small business owners and managers while offering training and access to men and women looking for a good job. The House has passed legislation to take advantage of the energy boom that is being restrained by current policy. The House has passed legislation to give parents the ability to seek jobs with more flexible hours, and to seek new training to fill jobs in new and emerging fields. The House has passed legislation to give individuals the same break from Obamacare that President Obama gave businesses so our economy is not threatened as this law fails to deliver on its promises.
"Unfortunately, the President has decided that he will not work with the House in a meaningful and bipartisan way to find common ground and help job growth. Senate Democrats have successfully obstructed nearly every bill passed in the House, without offering alternatives. It's time for Republicans and Democrats to work together or we will continue to see modest growth, part-time jobs and folks simply giving up on our economy and leaving the workforce. We cannot let that happen. It's time to restore trust in our government, and faith in our economy."
