Michaud Reacts to Deal Reached By Senate Leaders

Statement

Today, Representative Mike Michaud issued the following statement in reaction to the deal reached by Senate leaders to end the shutdown and address the debt ceiling:

"It's disappointing that Congress is once again attempting to pass a bill at the very last minute. While no one should be patting themselves on the back over this, the bill negotiated by the two Senate leaders does represent a reasonable solution to the standoff. At the very least, it temporarily helps bring an end to this shutdown and debt default mess. I strongly encourage my colleagues to support it and to do everything they can to avoid repeating this unnecessary brinksmanship in the future. It's my sincere hope that we immediately get to work on our nation's long-term fiscal problems."
