Donnelly Statement after Meeting with President Obama

Statement

Date: Oct. 10, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement after meeting with President Obama and other senators at the White House.

"I'm encouraged that all sides are sitting down to talk, but we need to turn that talking into action. The government has been closed for 10 days, and we're a week away from failing to pay our bills. Lurching from crisis to crisis is not what the American people sent us here to do, and it is hurting the bottom lines of families and businesses across Indiana and our nation. I am ready and willing to work with anyone on a common sense solution so we can stop hurting and start helping our economy."

On Friday, Senator Donnelly gave a speech outlining the harm some in Congress have and would continue to inflict on the U.S. and Hoosier economies due to partisan gridlock.
