U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross's (FL-15) amendment to H.J.Res. 59 will be used in the negotiations on the Continuing Resolution. The Ross Amendment would eliminate the Obamacare "fix" for Members of Congress, Congressional staff, the president, vice president, and political appointees.
"If our constituents must endure this law, Members of Congress must live under the full extent of it as well," said Ross. "We must do what is right, not only under the law, but in the eyes of our constituency.
"I'm worried about my constituents in the event of a government shutdown -- it's not good for anyone. That's why I've been working to come up with a solution that we can all agree on -- like ensuring that all Members of Congress are subjected to the full extent of Obamacare. I am thankful to have played a small role in introducing my amendment and elevating this serious issue and am glad that we will have a vote to ensure that Members of Congress, Congressional staff, the president, vice president, and political appointees do not get special treatment."
* The Ross Amendment would apply to the president, vice president, political appointees, Members of Congress and their staff.
* Ross submitted his amendment Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.
