House Passes Legislation to Pay National Guard and Reserves

Press Release

On October 3rd, the House approved the Pay Our Guard and Reserve Act, legislation put forward by Representative C.W. Bill Young that would ensure that all of our service members receive their paychecks on time during the current government shutdown.

"This measure doesn't solve the overall problem, but it does solve one problem for the Guard and Reserve. Both Republicans and Democrats alike need to do our jobs and pass legislation to fund our government," said Young.

Already the Congress has unanimously approved and President Obama has signed into law a measure to pay active duty military personnel during a shutdown. The House has also approved with bipartisan support legislation to fully fund the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), reopen our national parks and monuments, and allow the District of Columbia to expend their local funds.
